Nice, France – Diary 2

A few days in the French Riviera, sadly, we got hit with cloudy skies all throughout the rest of our trip (with the exception on the first day). However, that did not stop us from exploring. Whether it was cloudy or not it was still, by far, warmer than in Milan. During the day, I walked around in my bomber jacket, jeans and no boots. I even saw some people wearing skirts above the knees. Major props to them. nice16As we wondered around Promenade Des Anglais, we walked up the stairs and went to the Castle Hill area. There’s access from the side of the Hotel Suisse near the beach front. This is a must see! You really can’t beat the view up there. It is the best way to see Nice in its entirety.nice5

Ha, it’s actually normal for me but, this time it’s for good reasons. We ended up catching an early train ride the next day to go to Cannes. On the other hand, Nice was empty on New Years day but, I thought it was still a perfect way to take snaps of the square without too many people bombarding my shots.nice13Place Massena: on a normal day this place is full of people. You will find tonze of shops, cafe’s or restaurants around here.IMG_4182nice12nice15nice14nice26.jpgOn the way to the train station, we luckily found an open coffee shop called Grand Café de Lyon. Of course, they charged you an arm and a leg for a cappuccino and they ran out of croissant when we arrived. Luckily, the waiter was kind enough to make another batch of croissants and we ended up with the most delicious fresh and strait from the oven croissant. I’ll never forget how warm and tasty it was when I dove in to eat one. Sorry, I didn’t have time to take a photo before the croissant made it in my stomach.😉

By the way, our airbnb apartment was cool. It wasn’t the best but, the space and location was very good. I liked the high ceilings, the shutters on the windows, the fact that the Pharmacy was across the street (re-filling on French products was the best) and that we were near the harbor. Yeah, it wasn’t so bad.nicenice2
